They are super intelligent.
Siew Ying thinks they held a meeting and all decided to poo and pee in one cubicle.

They are for adoption. Unfortunately despite being 100% pure-Singaporean, they are not allowed to live in HDB flats, limiting their chance of finding good homes.

PM MCDS if you are allowed to keep a Singaporean dog in your home. Screening of potential adopters include home visits and an undertaking to have the puppy sterilised when he or she is old enough.

Precious’ puppies weaning to solid food

Precious’ babies’ start of weaning to solid food.

Their mother, named Precious, was rescued by her feeders at Changi Village. She is one of the stray dogs in Singapore, shunned by many people and at the mercy of being killed by AVA in the excuse of “culling” and shunned by HDB in shutting them out from “approved dogs”. She gave birth several times but all her puppies died. This time, she was found to be in an advanced stage of pregnancy after she was finally trapped and brought to the safety of the shelter, with the intention of getting her spayed. She gave birth one and the half week after she came to the shelter, to 12 puppies on 17th February 2017.

With the hard work of Siew Ying and Terry, the mother-cat is getting less frightened and nervous and her puppies are thriving. More hard work ahead in caring for them and eventually finding good homes for them.

Pen and Wash Painting of Precious and her babies

Mummy-Dog from Changi Village

The unspeakable sufferings of our local dogs.

Please help in the long term care of this stray mother-dog who is finally rescued and given a shelter where she will feel safe, be given the best possible care and most importantly, be loved.

Siew Ying, the founder of Metta Cats/Dogs Shelter (MCDS) took in this heavily pregnant stray dog who had given birth many times in Changi Village but none of the puppies survived – killed in accidents, abuse or just disappeared. The dog eluded trapping many times until now.

Siew Ying wrote, “Last night we heard puppies. Could not go near her. She was scared. Could only see a bundle of dark color puppies. Left her a towel. This morning I went to feed her. I countered …. 12 of them.”

She gave birth on 17-02-2017 and Siew Ying counted 12. The mother-dog is still very frightened and nervous. The care of this mother-dog (yet to be named) falls entirely on Siew Ying.

18-02-2017: Siew Ying updates, “Puppies: 4 boys and 8 girls.”
