frequently asked questions

  • Oh, can i come visit the cats! Where are they located?

Our location is not publicly disclosed because of  'dumping' incidents in the past. Cats were left in carriers at the entrance without food and water under the hot sun for hours. The cats could have died if the volunteers had just left and wouldnot be back till the next day.

  • I would love to help MettaCattery, how can I help?

There are 3 ways to help:

    (a) Be our regular volunteer!

If you are currently enjoying your school vacation
or if you are in between jobs
or simply NOT have anything to do (lucky you!)
and have plenty of time to spare?
Why not be a regular volunteer and commit a day or two each week at the cattery

Here are some of the daily routines/activities:

    • topping up food/water bowls
    • cleaning out the poo-bins/litter-bins
    • feeding the little tigers
    • sweeping the floor
    • launder the towels (the cats sleep on towels and there is a washing machine at the cattery)
    • grooming and medicating the cats
    • or SIMPLY, give them TLC - lots of kisses and cuddles!!

Socialising with the cats cultivate the development of good human-feline bond for successful rehoming.

    (b) Be an ad-hoc volunteer!

If you can't afford the time to be a regular volunteer? No worries at all!

You can help by offering some time & effort :
            - in adoption drives
            - in ad hoc activities such as jumble sale
            - by donating
second-hand items that are of use in the cattery
            - by looking out for friends who might be interested in adopting the cats/kittens and directing them to MettaCattery

    (c) "Adopt" a cat in the cattery

If you have always wanted to have a feline companion but prohibited for whatever reason, you have your very own cat in the cattery by pledging to take care of its needs (such as food and veterinary care such as vaccination and sickness) until it is adopted out into a permanent home or till you are ready to bring the cat to your own home.

    (d) Sponsoring the cattery's expenditure!

OK! IF you simply do not have the time and energy to help us in any of the ways stated above, you can help to sponsor payment for food/litter and the boarding fees. Any amount helps to lighten the burden on the volunteers so that they can continue to care for the cats without having to worry about the payment of bills that include

    1) Pets City

(Pets City is the sole supplier of food/litter to MettaCattery and expenditure ranges around $1500 a month)

    2) Topbreed Trading Co

(Boarding fee is $1300 a month)

    3) Vet Fees (for vaccination and illnesses)

Please email MettaCats  for details on how to sponsor.

  •  I want to adopt a cat from MettaCattery. What is the procedure?

You will be screened by a volunteer on your suitability and a home visit may be required to ensure that your home is safe for a cat to live in. Strict proceduure is to ensure successful adoption as failure is traumatic to both parties. Cats and kittens for adoption are listed at
    http://www.mettacats.org/adoption_page_one.htm.

Email mettacats@yahoo.com.sg with details of yourself as such as

    1) age?

    2) any cats presently? If yes, how many?

    3) Is your home for cats not to roam out or fall off?

    4) Why do you want to adopt a cat/kitten?

    5) Contact phone number?

  •  Is the cattery able to take in any more street cat that needs intensive care?

Not at the present moment as the handful of volunteers are overstretched in the caring of the present lot of cats. The cattery is in dire need of human to help in the daily care of the cats as well as the increasing expenditure.

  •  What should I do if I need assistance or advice in taking care of a rescued animal? Is there an person I can call?

The care-givers at MettaCattery are all working people who volunteer their spare time. As such, it does not have an emergency number. You can however, send us an email at mettacats@yahoo.com.sg and we will assist you in whatever way we can.

1) Pets City (Pets City

2) Topbreed Trading Co (寄宿费每个月是$1300 a month)

I want to adopt a cat from MettaCattery. What is the procedure?
